It's That Time of Year

The weather is changing and as the temperature drops, comfort foods of fall and winter make their way to the menu.  Chili makes the list of cool weather comfort food.

I normally put everything in the crockpot and let it simmer all day, but I forgot to do this before we left for the dojo.  So last night, I made skillet chili.

Ground beef and diced onions browning in the skillet.

Tomato sauce, ro-tel, chili seasoning ready to add when the beef is done.

Kidney beans ready to add.

Recipe:

1.5 lbs of extra lean ground beef
1 can tomato sauce
1 can of Ro-Tel
2 cans Red Kidney Beans
2 packets of Chili mix
1/2 of a large onion (diced)

Brown the ground beef with the diced onions.  Once the meat has browned at all other ingredients and stir well.  Turn the heat down to simmer on the stove, let simmer for 30 minutes (stirring occasionally).  Serve with cheese, sour cream, onions, and crackers.

Supper is ready, yum!
