Learning Morse Code

Mr. Jack decided to do a refresher on Morse code.  He explained the importance of Morse code and how it has been used.  The precursor to the telephone, it opened communication to thousands that lived far distances.  Although modern technology has replaced the majority of Morse code messages, it still plays a role in military and survival situations.

He mixed things up a bit and had the students perform a visual and then an auditory Morse code.  He explained how to use the flashlight for the visual representation and how to 'rattle' the auditory version.  These techniques required a great deal of concentration for the ones deciphering the message.  The senders learned how important it was to be clear and precise.

Hopefully, they will remember some of the code they learned today!
