We met at Milliken Arboretum to practice measuring the circumference and height of various trees. We also worked together to measure canopy spread on trees.
Math has many practical uses and today the students learned how a series of calculations could lead to height estimation of trees. (They just thought they were getting out of math today!)
They used rulers, tape measures, and calculators as they collected the data. It took a great deal of team work to complete their tasks. These kiddos always do a great job working together!
