Egee had her second dance competition of the year. So, off we traveled to Myrtle Beach for the Platinum Dance Competition.
Our trip started out well. We made good time on the road and decided to swing by Schuler's BBQ. We love watching The Profit and had seen the episode with Schuler's BBQ. It wasn't really out of our way and we are glad we stopped. Their food is great and reasonable.
After eating, we headed on into Myrtle Beach. I had made reservations by phone a month previous at The Mermaid Inn. We were excited to be oceanfront and have two rooms. That quickly changed when we arrived and were told they had no record of our reservation. I had a confirmation number and they told me it would do no good. Needless to say, I was not happy. There was a car show, dance competition and something else going on that weekend. Hotels were packed and no vacancy signs were rampant. Luckily, we were able to get a room at the Marriot Courtyard and make the best of it. Not ocean front, not two rooms, but it was a decent place to sleep.
The weather had been wonderful all week and of course when we were to be at the beach, a cold front decided to blow in! We did make our way to the beach at Cherry Grove and walk around before the dance competition. We were still making lemonade from lemons.
Egee's dance team did wonderful and scored Platinum. Of course, this is all that mattered! Their hard work paid off.
Until next year, good bye Myrtle Beach!

Christmas Fun Days 6,7, and 8!
Okay, things got a little busy this weekend and I didn't have a chance to be at the computer. So, here is the recap of what fun we have had the last three days!
Saturday, December 6
Rain, rain, go away! We didn't get to attend the Christmas parade this morning. It was cold and pouring rain. Oh, well....extra sleep for the kiddos.
Tinsel had fun last night playing Scrabble.
Egee had her dance Christmas Party in the afternoon. She had fun with her friends.
Sunday, December 7
We were up early to attend the 9:30 service at church. Little Man and other G-Tunes choir members sang for the congregation. They did a great job!
Out with friends for lunch and then home to rest before going to the G-Tunes musical. Big brother D-man was able to join us today. That made it extra special for the kiddos.
The G-Tunes musical was fantastic. Everyone did a great job!
Egee stayed at church for her choir Christmas Party. She said it was great and even had a fondue fountain!
Monday, December 8
Tinsel tried to disguise himself today. He must have known it was going to be a cold dreary day again today. He ordered pumpkin muffins and apple cider for a treat. Yummy!
We did a bit of school work and much housework today. Trying to stay on top of things!
Now off we go to dance!

Festival Season = Time to Dance!
Egee made competition team for dancing in June. She started practicing for the fall festivals in July. Needless to say, we had a busy summer full of dance. We finally got to see her perform two Saturdays in a row and we are so proud of her and the other dancers.
Harvest Fest in our little town was her first performance. The next weekend, she performed at the International Festival. Both performances drew a large crowd of parents, families, friends, and festival spectators.
Her dance studio has 112 girls on competition and performance teams. Each girl had to earn a spot on a team and commit to a year's worth of practices, rehearsals, performances, festivals, parades and competitions. They showed us a bit of the what is yet to come in this performance season.
Each girl gave it her all and they were great. Parents and teachers were proud of the girls. I can't wait to see more!
